Hi again, i found the CMOS chip the Zi8 is probably using: Aptina MT9M002 MT9M002 data sheet (it's the same as the Zi6 :O) Aptina MT9P401 (MT9P401 data sheet)
Hi. Just found your site. The CMOS chip in the Zi8 IS NOT the same chip that is in the Zi6, according to Kodak. I went around and around with them until they discovered that the Aptina MT9M002 spec quoted for the Zi8 is a "misprint" in the FW info in the Zi8. I could not get them to give me the correct spec info, but subsequent investigation showed that the CMOS Chip is not the same as the one in my Zi6. I waited for three weeks to get a response from Kodak when I originally questioned the fact that my Zi8 and my Zi6 service menus showed the same Aptina chip.
The specs for the MT9M002 are for a 1.6 megapixel, 1/4.5 image sensor. This does not match the stated specs for Zi8. Looking at Aptina's site I think a closer match might be the MT9P401. It is a 5 megapixel, 1/2.5 image sensor. It also matches the 1920 x 1080 @ 30fps and the 1280 x 720 @ 60fps. It's data sheet is at: http://www.aptina.com/assets/downloadDocument.do?id=180

Thanks Anonymous and Chuck for the info.
ReplyDeleteMT9P401 may be the most close match of image sensor.
Do anyone of u know the main chip used in Kodak Zi8?
Yeah, thanks for the correction :)
